When you look on your natal chart for potential careers and how successful you might be, you may find planets placed in the 2nd, 6th, or 10th houses or aspects with your Midheaven. Planets in these vocational sectors are the strongest career factors, and usually one or two of these planets will be the dominant influence. One important consideration for determining which planets are dominant is to measure how strong each of them is. Let’s see what it means to have a dominant planet: If it’s conjunct the Midheaven (MC) within 10°, the 10th or 9th house. If it’s one of the highest SCORE*. If it’s square, trine, or opposite the MC. If it’s one of the most aspected planets in the chart. If it’s in a career-oriented earth sign — Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn. Let’s suppose that the Sun is your dominant planet due to career path. To find your final dispositor is based on the traditional system of rulership and help you to discover which ones have the most potency in a chart. To use this technique, you need to know traditional rulership for each sign: Aries is ruled by Mars. Taurus is ruled by Venus. Gemini is ruled by Mercury. Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Leo is ruled by the Sun. Virgo is ruled by Mercury. Libra is ruled by Venus. Scorpio is ruled by Mars (traditional) and Pluto (modern). Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Aquarius is ruled by Saturn (traditional) and Uranus (modern). Pisces is ruled by Jupiter (traditional) and Neptune (modern). There are three major types of dispositors in this article: final dispositor (one powerful planet that disposes every planet in the chart); planets in mutual reception (a pair of planets that dispose each other as well as the rest of the planets in a chart); a repeating loop of three or more planets that acts as a group dispositor. There will be chart examples of well-known individuals for each type. Every dispositor will itself have a dispositor, until you get to one that you designate the final dispositor. The final dispositor can become very influential, especially when it is the final dispositor of many or all the planets in a natal chart. I use only...
